The decrease of oxygen saturation can happen when playing video game because the body increase metabolism process to fulfill the need of the body regarding energy. The decrease of oxygen saturation could lowering performance of the brain such as attention.
Objectives: The aim of this research is to know the influence of the decrease of oxygen saturation after playing video game toward the alteration of attention in students of Faculty of Medicine Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia
Methodology: This study is an experimental study with the respondent amounted to 85 people who had been given intervention such as playing video game. The measurement for the oxygen saturation use device pulse oxymetry and the measurement for attention use Single Letter Cancelation Test that had been given before and after intervention.
Results: From 85 respondent, 57 respondent(67.1%) had decrease of oxygen saturation and 70 respondent(82.4%) had increase of attention after been playing video game for 5 minutes. Chi-square test between oxygen saturation value and attention value generate values of p = 0.174
Conclusions: The decrease of oxygen saturation after playing video game had no effect toward the alteration of attention in medical students of The Indonesia Catholic University of Atma Jaya.
