Isi artikelBackground: Estimation of stature is one of the important components in identification of human remains in forensic anthropology. The correlation between stature and the percutaneus shoulder length (shoulder's pinnacle - heel), and the upper arm length in Indonesian people has been studied. Objectives: Objective of this study is to investigate the correlation between measurements method of percutaneus shoulder length and the upper arm in stature of cadavers. Methods: This cross sectional analytical research was conducted on 75 corpses of adults Mongolid Indonesian age 19-49 years old consisted of 40 males and 35 females. The results of the measurements were analyzed by Pearson correlation, Iinier regression and paired t test. Result and Conclusion: Correlation coefficient (r) of percutaneus shoulder length measurement method is 0.950 for the right shoulder and 0.959 for the left, with regression formula Y = 22.838 + 1.808X ± 2.84 for the right shoulder and Y= 26.188 + 0.988X ± 2.58 for the left. The correlation coefficient (r) of upper arm length measurement method is 0.624 for the right and 0.626 for the left, with regression formula Y = 104.612 + 1.756X ± 7.11 for upper arm length, and Y= 102.912 + 1.801 X ± 7.10 for the left. As there was a significant difference between male and female (p<0.05), so the regression formula be calculated into 2 groups based on sex. The correlation coefficient of stature from percutaneus shoulder length and upper arm length of males were: right shoulder (r = 0.857), left shoulder (r = 0.874), right upper arm (r = 0.246), left upper arm (r = 0.201). The coefficient correlation of females were: the right shoulder (r = 0.909), the left shoulder (r = 0.910), right upper arm (r = 0.285) and the left (r = 0.259). It can be concluded that the method of percutaneus shoulder length measurement has stronger correlation to the corpse stature than the upper arm length.
