Isi artikelBackground: School teachers are persons who interact daily with student suffer from epilepsy have an important role for their life beside their family and classmate. Knowledge and attitude of teacher could influence directly to students who are suffer from epilepsy in their behave at school, development of social capabilities, and post graduate success. Objective: The objective of this study is to investigate teacher's knowledge about epilepsy and attitudes toward students with epilepsy. Methods: The study uses a cross sectional method. Subject of this study are all elementary school teachers in Banguntapan, Bantul, District of Yogyakarta. All teachers who agree to join this research complete the attitudes toward persons with epilepsy (ATPE) questionnaire. The outcomes of the study are teacher's knowledge and attitudes towards epilepsy score with used ATPE scale. Result and Discussion: The result suggests that most of elementary school's teachers at Banguntapan, Bantul have good knowledge (61.6%) about epilepsy and they have good attitude (88.9%) toward epilepsy. Most of good attitude toward epilepsy subjects is found in the group who have good knowledge about epilepsy (95.1 % vs. 78.9%) that significant statistically RP= 4.28 (95% CI: 1.21 - 15.1) (p= 0.02).
