Isi artikelRehabilitation for spinal cord lesion is mandatory where the rigid spine construction facilitates early mobilization. Conservative treatment for unstable spine related to late mobilization and increased complications. There are many kinds of segmental spinal instrumentation (SSI) that can be applied for unstable spine i.e. anterior and/or posterior ones. Stable spine is related with early mobilization to prevent complications. The etiologies of the cases were traumatic, tumor, infection, congenital and degenerative disorders. The purpose of this study was to observe the distribution of spinal cases, the treatments given, and influencing factors on the results. This was a retrospective study, using 173 patients who were treated by the authors in Sanglah General Hospital, Bali during observation of 2 years from 2005-2007. Most of the spinal cases were degenerative, in Frankel E, in the fifth decade of life, with male predominance. Most treatment given was surgery with instrumentation, Frankel preoperative condition had a significant influence on result of surgery for trauma, tumor and degenerative, especially in cervical and thoracic regions. Surgery had significant effect on the result in non instrumented cases, infection, degenerative, thoracolumbal and lumbar cases.
