Abstract
Indonesia transportation sector mainly relied on Diesel engine vehicle. Although Indonesia relied on Diesel engine vehicle, the development progress in Indonesia is slower than other countries, for example Japan. Japan automobile Industry has been dominating Indonesian market until now. Japan is one of the world leaders in Diese engine technology. In exhaust emission reduction technology, Japan has made their Diesel engine to follow the EURO VI standard. And even now, Japan is still trying to further develop it. From this Thesis, Indonesia can learn how to improve their exhaust emission standard, to follow the world standard, to follow the trend of reducing air pollution by means of exhaust emission. This research found that with a certain specification, good quality of exhaust emission can be produced. With addition of aftertreatment system, automobile exhaust emission can be further reduced. HC and CO can be reduced by using DOC, and PN can be reduced by using DPF. Also a combination of DOC and DPF can effectively reduce HC, CO and PN.
