Background: High dose CCL4 may cause liver damage marked by the increased of Serum Glutamic Oxaloacetic Transaminase (SGOT). Temulawak (Curcuma xanthoriza Roxb) contain curcumin that has been suggested to act as a hepotoprotector. The aim of this experimental study was to find out the effect of temulawak in CCI4-¬induced rats. Design and method: The study used pre and post test randomized control group design. In this study, Galur wistar rats were divided into 4 groups: Group I (the control group given aquadest for 14 days); Group II (treated with aquadest for 12 days continued with CCL4 for two days, group III and IV (treated group given temulawak for 12 days followed with CCL4 concentration of 50%, 75% and 100% . In the day 14 SGOT concentrations were assessed. Data were analyzed by ANOVA test. Result: Bonferroni test result showed there was significant different between group I and II; I and III; I and IV; No significant difference was found between group III and IV (p>0.05). Conclusion: Temulawak can decrease SGOT concentrotion in rats
