Embodiment design is the embodiment of the design concept. This final project will discuss about the realization of the concept of steering handle which can facilitate the parents when teaching their children to ride the bicycles directly without using any additional wheels on the bicycle. Parents need to be given the facilities because nowadays, the current position of the parents body’s in the current bicycle teaching process causes a bad effect for their body. In fact, the parents not only need to bend their body to reach the bicycle but also they need to hold the weight and force from the bicycle which they need to stay running in the same time. Through the steps of embodiment and detail design, steering handle is available with a lever and a base, in which the base can be mounted on the underside of a bicycle saddle. Steering handle components is designed to provide the needs of the concept, including the weight-bearing, the need for the function of the lever release,braking function and the attachable function to the bicycle. From the research, the steering handle prototype has 100% performance to reduce the angle formed by the parents in the conventional teaching process with an average reduction angle is 48°. By decreasing the angle formed by the body, also will reduce the risk of pain in the parents body. Prototype is also able to perform the function of the lever release and the braking system than can provide freedom and to increase the level of safety for the children when cycling. Prototype can be applied to three different types of bicycles. Total cost for the realization of the steering handle prototype is amounted to Rp 309.400,- for a single prototype. |
