Abstract
Compared to the petrol engine, the Heavy Duty Diesel Engine (HDDE) has high thermal efficiency and high torque characteristics. Due to that fact, people widely used the HDDE in a wide variety of work. But still, the exhaust emissions and the use of fossil fuel have to be reduced. BDF is probably the answer to this problem because of its higher oxygen contents, it should make the combustion better and reduce the emissions. Furthermore, because it is made from renewable sources, it can be considered green energy and would reduce the use of fossil fuel. This paper will describe how the different mixing of the BDF can reduce the CO, HC, and PN emissions from the tail pipe. Furthermore, it will show the effects of aftertreatment in reducing the exhaust emission.
