Abstract
This research discussed about waste identification and plant layout improvement at CV. Sinar Berlian Cemerlang. CV. Sinar Berlian Cemerlang is a company that produces jelly in cups at Lampung Province. CV. Sinar Berlian Cemerlang has just moved to Lampung since 2014. The location that is being used by the company to do the daily production is a temporary place forced to be used by the company right now. In 2015, the company plans to build a new plant. Based on the observation, the company’s production floor has so many problems. Many wastes happened at the production floor. As the incoming plans of the owner of the company to build a new plant, this research is done to identify the wastes on the current production floor as an improvement and to prevent the wastes to be happened again on the new production floor. There are 7 wastes that happened on the current production floor. They are the
overproduction wastes that is occurred because there is no product forecast and production schedule, waiting wastes that is occurred because there is no line balancing and minimum supervising of the raw materials stocks, transportation wastes that is occurred because the bad plant layout, inappropriate wastes that is occurred because the bad warehouse layout, excess inventory that is occurred because the WIP and the limitiation of the production’s area, excess motion wastes that is occurred because the limitations of the working area and the false work methods, defect wastes because of no machine maintenance schedule. The plant layout improvement gives a significant changes to the output. The current work method only produces 640 units for 8 hours. But the future work method can produce 800 units only for 7.28 hours.
