Abstract
Aloe vera is one of the worldwide trending topics in the recent years. The journal of “Natural Medicine Journal” in 2012 states that aloe vera gel has some effects on wound healing. This research is experimental, using Sprague Dawley white mice (Rattus norvegicus) as the sample that got wound intervention, smeared by aloe vera gel, and then observed in 13 days by measuring the wound length every 3 days. In this research, there are 4 groups that got different intervention, which are the negative control, positive control (the combination of plasenta extract and neomycin sulphate). This research was held in “Veterinarian Faculty of Bogor Agriculture University” on April and May 2015. The result of this research is that the combination of plasenta extract and neomycin sulphate, aloe vera gel 50 %, and aloe vera gel 90 % are effective on wound healing, marked by a < 0,05 compared to the negative control. The combination of plasenta extract and neomycin sulphate and aloe vera gel 90 % have the same effectiveness. Aloe vera gel 50 % is less effective compared to the combination of plasenta extract and neomycin sulphate. The conclusion of this research is the usage of aloe vera gel topically can accelerate the wound healing process and there is a correlation between aloe vera gel concentration and wound healing process. This study shows that the higher aloe vera gel concentration can fasten the wound healing process.
