It is estimated that cancer will continue to grow along with the development and growth of population in the world. Many studies have been done to prevent and treat cancer, but the treatment still have a lot of side effects. One of the drugs currently used to treat cancer is herbal medicine. Mango ginger (Curcuma mangga) is a herbal medicine that have the potential to inhibit cancer growth because it has anticancer effects. The purpose of this study was to determine the content of the mango ginger which can inhibit the growth of cancer cells and how it works on cancer cells. Method used in this study is the literature study by using various steps of research, such as literature tracking, data extraction and critical appraisal. The result shows that the content of the mango ginger as curcumin, Ribosome-Inactivating Protein, zerumin B and phenolic can inhibit cancer cell growth. The authors conclude that the mango ginger can be used as a herbal medicine to inhibit the growth of cancer cells by inhibiting proliferation, induce apoptosis, and as an antioxidant, but it requires further research on the effectiveness of mango ginger and how much dosage can be used.
