Isi artikelBackground: Study of epidemiology shows prediabetes is associated with the increase of diabetes mellitus and also the risk of cardiovascular diseases. Traditional risk factors and non traditional risk factors of cardiovascular diseases such as inflammation marker c-reactive protein and hipoadiponektin have been proven as an important role of the incidence of diabetes mellitus. Indonesian medical literatures only have a few reports about risk factors of cardiovascular disease in pre-diabetes subjects. The aim of the study was to see the profile of cardiovascular disease risk factors, both traditional and non traditional on prediabetes subjects. Subjects and methods: Eligible subjects were adults aged 30•65 years. Subjects with a history of diabetes mellitus and car diovascular diseases were excluded. Subjects were assigned for anamnesis, complete physical examination and blood tests after 12 hours of fasting. HDL-cholesterol, trigliserida, fasting blood glucose, hsCRP and adiponectin were measured. An oral glucose tolerance with 75 grams of glucose based on WHO standards, was also conducted. Prediabetes is diagnosed based on American Diabetes Association 2003 criterias both (impaired fasting glucose) IFT and (impaired glucose tolerance) ICT. This is an observosional study, cross sectional approach. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS for windows 11.5. Results: 20 I subjects meet the criteria of this study, consisting of 94 subjects of (normal glucose tolerance) NGT and 107 sub-jects of prediabetes. Subjects diagnosed as prediabetic consist of 40 IFT subjects, 44 ICT, and 23 both IFT and ICT. There were significant differences in cardiovascular risk factors between the NGT and the prediabetes of body mass index (25.80 vs. 26.90 ± 3:39 ± 3.97, p=0.037), GT (164.40±118.67±85.43 vs 194.50, p = 0.039), hsCRP (3.70±2:56 vs 3.09 ± 4.90, P=0.003), and adiponectin (9:10 ± 4.60 vs. 7.90 ± 3.85, P= 0.039) between prediabetes and the NGT, but the cabbage-HDL (43.40 ± 10:14 vs 43.90 ± 10.78, p=0.737) found no significant differences. When compared between the NGT, IFT, and ICT only significant differences (p<0.05) on hsCRP and adiponectin were found. Conclusion: Body mass index, trigliseride, hsCRP, and adiponectin on prediabetic subjects are worse compared to normal subjects. Concentration of hsCRP and adiponectin were found significantly different in ICT group compared to normal. Cohort study is needed to evaluate the role of hsCRP and adiponectin on type 2 diabetes mellitus.
