Lymphatic mapping with sentinel node biopsy is a minimally invasive procedure that has the potential to provide accu¬rate staging information in patients with breast cancer. Axillary node dissection can thus be reserved for patients with involved nodes. The best results are obtained with a multidisciplinary team approach. The author recounts his experi¬ence with the introduction of this technique at his institution and share his knowledge gained by helping others to do so.
