Isi artikelThe Indonesian Government's postponement to ratify the FCTC* until 2015 will: increase tobacco-related deaths and diseases, shorten life expectancy years, increase the number of poor smokers' and their household debts; increase the use of other related social problems such as alcoholism and drug abuse; and jeopardize the health and career of future young generation. Unfortunately, the cigarette producers do not pay much attention to these negative impacts; furthermore they make money as much as possible, although there are more deaths and diseases caused by tobacco cigarettes. They continue to produce more of their dangerous products; inspire of Government Laws, Community and Non¬government Organizations' protests, continuous reminders from WHO (FCTC*, Empower, etc) and the World Bank; as well as public smoking bans in European countries such as Ireland and French, and experiences from strict law enforcements in Hongkong and Singapore.
