Isi artikel
With such new developments as chat rooms and virtual networking, blogs and wikis, webzines and message services, alternative online journalism and easy email access to media people and institutions far and wide through their websites, it would seem that we are moving to more participatory forms of mediated communication. Presuming access in the first place, this begs the huge question of what is meant by participation. As process and relation, participation varies according to degree, mode, authenticity (itself highly problematic), agency, consequence and how in practice it is positioned within existing structures of social power.
