Isi artikel
To find out about politics (and other things) people rely upon the media. If we are to participate in a democracy, then the ways and mechanisms through which we find out about the wider world (and decisions enacted in our name) are clearly important. There are tensions between the objectives of the media and politicians, and this interaction clearly impacts upon the nature of the media content we receive. The public, however, are not passive consumers of media and Couldry et al. are concerned to explore how people make sense of this wider political world (which they term ‘public connection’) through the media.
