Isi artikel
In the remarkably broad field of communications the name Schiller is well known. Herb Schiller (1919–2000) was a pioneer of the political economy approach, a remarkable speaker and major influence at any of the many international conferences he attended. His son Dan (born 1951) is less renowned in Europe, not least because he tends to stay in the US. Though he studied for a while at the University of Leicester during the 1970s, Dan Schiller has contented himself with remaining in recent years in the Mid-West, something that inevitably has weakened his influence in Europe, though his exposure to thinkers such as Richard Hoggart, Stuart Hall and especially Raymond Williams leaves a noticeable imprint on his writing.
