Isi artikel
In the fields of communication and media studies, there have been several notable recent attempts to chart new critical directions for research (see, for example, McNair, 2006). The Mediation of Power needs to be seen very much as part of this critical revisionism, born out of a disenchantment with traditional critical research paradigms and the way these paradigms have addressed the issue of power. In this book Davis has in his sights what he terms the ‘elite-mass mediaaudience paradigm’, a bit of a mouthful, but essentially a range of theories from politics, sociology and media and cultural studies that are concerned with the influence of elite directed mass communication over citizen publics.
