Smartphones are advanced technology which is a combination PDA and mobile phone. In the smartphone continues to emerge a variety of applications that greatly affect the rate of use of the smartphone itself, one of which is a chat messenger. There are three messenger chat application that is most widely used is the Line, Kakao Talk, and We Chat. Smartphone and chat messenger are two things coexist, therefore the researchers wanted to know whether these can affect the usability chat messenger. There are five attributes that affect usability, which are efficient, satisfaction, learnability, memorability, and error. Based on experimental data processing and analysis of research measuring usability chat messenger for five attributes, it can be concluded as follow : smartphone factors with the Sig. 0.03 and chat messenger factor with the Sig. 0.002 significant effect efficient time and clicks for users chat messenger. Smartphone factor with the Sig. 0.01 significant affect errors for users chat messenger. Chat messenger factors with the Sig. 0.002 affect satisfaction for users chat messenger. Smartphone factor with the Sig. 0,036 and chat messenger factor with the Sig. 0.002 significant affect learnability for non-users chat messenger.
