Abstract
Introduction
Sexuality education in Indonesia needs to be given early as a form of prevention of adolescent who have sexual intercourse under age and before marriage. Given the lack of sexuality education causes many teenagers fall into promiscuity. The effect can be seen from the growing number of sexually transmitted disease and sexual violence. Early sex education can be provided through the school institutions especially through the biology teachers. Biology teacher has a role in providing sexuality education through the material being taught, such as reproduction and puberty.
Method
The method used is descriptive research with descriptive observation. Respondents totaled 9 junior high school biology teachers’ in DKI Jakarta.
Result
All respondents agreedknowledge of sexuality needs to be held at the school (100%). All respondents also agreed that the school and parents hold each other accountable in supporting sexuality education (100%). The majority of respondents chose a sexually transmitted disease and promiscuity (89%) as an appropriate topic given to junior secondary education level. The majority of respondents experienced in the teaching of sexual awareness (88.9%).
Conclusion
Biology teachers' perceptions states that sexuality education is necessary and important to be given as early as possible to students / junior high school student.
Suggestion
Biology teachers can provide a deep knowledge about sexuality education, so as to create a sexuality education modules aimed at preventing juvenile delinquency early.
