The menu of breakfast assumed to be one of the important nutrition that influence student’s achievement. Generally, the students in Jakarta consume rice prefer than bread. Both of them have different glycemic index that caused the different glucose concentration in blood due to timely unequal absorption in gut, which work on the brain’s performance. The aimed of the study were to investigate the association between glycemic index and student’s achievement in Kumon.
Method.
The students of Kumon who enrolled in the study must agree to the protocol. Assessment of the brain’s performance will be conducted using Kraepelin test. The study design was pre-post quasi experimental. The intervention using menu of rice and bread was given to all pre-intervention subject, two hours after eating breakfast and four hours after eating breakfast to A and B-group each group contained 40 subjects. average number to be done overall, and the average summation to be done overall on respondents who ate rice and then who ate bread.
Conclusion.
The different glycaemic index containing menu of breakfast influence the performance of the brain. This study showed the rice with a lower glycemic index will sustain better performance index of student comparing to higher glycaemic index.
