Abstract
With the increasing use of inappropriate antibiotic can increase the resistance of bacteria to these antibiotics. One is Staphylococcus aureus that are resistant to methicillin class of antibiotic use so that turned into a methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). Honey has been researched to be its usefulness as an alternative that does not lead to antimicrobial resistance. Researchers tested the effects of Tesso Nilo Wild Honey derived from Riau, Indonesia against wild strains of S. aureus. This study was an experimental study in vitro by microdilution method. This study will assess the effect of osmolarity of honey by comparing the number of colonies of S. aureus in the test group with MHTN concentration of 0.6 g / mL, 0.7 g / mL, 0.8 g / mL, 0.9 g / mL and 1 g / mL of the positive control. The results of this study indicate that there is a decrease in the number of colonies along with the increasing concentration MHTN tested and at a concentration of 0.8 g/mL had no
colony growth. The conclusion of this study is MHTN has an antimicrobial effect against S. aureus in vitro by microdilution method.
