Skills laboratory ( skills lab) has an important role in the implementation of competence based curriculum in medical education. In skills lab; students learn about clinical skills with simulated patient before encounter with real patients. Simulation used during learning process is designed step by step, starting from immitative and 'real' materials by using organ model and mannequin, up to real simulated situation by using simulated patients. Simulated-based Medical Education (SBME ) involves both simple and modem facilities. Model (mannequin, dummy) is a simulator that is needed by many health education institutions, and requires a lot of money for procurement. The cost is even more expensive if it is purchased from overseas and some equipments or parts are easy to be damaged. The challenge for developing country is to expand our creativity to create our own model with easily obtained components and materials such as from resin, latex and silicon, and therefore the price is also more affordable for medical institution without sacrificing the quality of medical skills competence.
