Therefore, a study on food availability is interesting. A study was carries out in DKI jakarta to observe a profile of fruit demand and family expenses. Data were collected from national social - economics survey in 1003, 1996, and 1999. The familites were grouped according to the family expenses into inferior (< Rp. 500.000 per month), medium (Rp. 500.000 - 1.500.000 per month) and high (> Rp. 1.500.000 per month) class families. The result showed that there was differences in fruits preferences among family groups. The inferior families most prefer to banana followed by papaya, rambutan and apple. The medium families class also most prefer to banana, but followed by apple, papaya and rambutan. On the other hand, the high class families most prefer to apple rather than other fruits.
