To meet the needs of Thai professionals for advanced English proficiency and business and technology communication skills, the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce (UTCC) instituted in 1995 an MA Program in English for business and technology (EBT). To extend the effective capacity of foreign specialists to work with UTCC students through collaborative distance assignments, an experimental internet-supported twinning project has been undertaken. EBT students at UTCC and at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) have participated in a closely moderated exchange assignment. Careful preparation, with attention to both infrastructure and appropriate pedagogical materials, has resulted in a demonstration of the workability of internet-supported distance instruction in EBT.
