An observer looking back to the 1992 workshop on anti-DNA antibodies’ from the vantage of the 1996 workshop could see genuine progress along several fronts. Although the papers presented at this conference took up well-known themes, many speakers used those themes to open novel perspectives on the twists and turns of anti-DNA antibodies. New ways of thinking about the origins of and in vivo effects of anti-DNA antibodies were evident in every session.
