Isi artikelThe noxious effects of UV radiation in SLE are well known.’,’ However, patients and physicians have long appreciated that the longer UV wavelengths designated as ultraviolet-A (UV-A: 320-400 nm) lack the toxicity of the shorter UV wavelengths known as ultraviolet-B (UV-B: 280-320nm).~ Additionally, some years ago evidence began to appear in the literature that UV-A and UV-B wavelengths have dissociated’4 or even opposing5,6 actions along immunological and photochemical lines, raising the possibility that some long UV wavelengths have beneficial effects in SLE.
