Isi artikel
The cause and effect relationship between ultraviolet light and cutaneous lupus erythematosus (LE) is clear. Photosensitivity in LE patients has been demonstrated in many studies 1--{) and photosensitivity is one of the major diagnostic criteria of systemic lupus erythematosus.’ While these studies suggest that the relationship between ultraviolet radiation (UVR) and discoid lupus erythematosus (DLE) is somewhat tenuous with between 10 and 43% of the DLE patients developing lesions with UVR exposure,3°8 the preponderance of studies clearly demonstrate that the cutaneous lesions of patients with subacute cutaneous lupus erythematosus (SCLE), neonatal lupus erythematosus (NLE), and acute cutaneous lupus erythematosus (ACLE) can be induced by exposure to UVR.2,3,5,6,8
