For centuries the college classroom has been confined to the lecture, the printed word, and the blackboard. The student has been bound by this basic format. Recently, computers have found their way into college classrooms as important new teaching tools. This trend first manifested itself in terms of faculty computer/multimedia presentation system and, more recently, as computer equipped classrooms. While these classrooms offer great promise for adding a new dimension to teaching, little is known concerning how they are actually used accross the United States.
