Isi artikel
We have suggested elsewhere’ that the best animal model of lupus is not perhaps one of the many murine or canine models, but rather the Hydra monster of ancient Greek mythology. This frightening beast, one of the offspring of Echidne and Typhon, had an uncertain number of heads and it was said that the cutting off of one head led to the growth of two or three others. By analogy, lupus presents in many different guises and the successful treatment of one manifestation such as arthritis may well be followed by the emergence of other clinical features such as a skin rash and renal disease.
