Abstract
This thesis describes about the recommendation of the lean manufacturing system which applied to the service company. The study case takes place at PT Multi Terminal Indonesia. PT. Multi Terminal Indonesia is a company engaged in the field of services of loading and unloading cargo on the vessel in the port of Tanjung Priok. This research was conducted on 2 types of cargo, coil and general cargo. Overall explanation of the company using the current state value stream mapping. Based the calculation, it is known that the Process Cycle Efficiency (PCE) of current condition only at 4,49% for coil cargo and 5,17% for general cargo.Observations results in the field show that there is still waste founded. Based on the waste identification checklist, six kinds of waste are identified in the location of loading and unloading cargo. Result of the analysis of the root causes of waste are uncalculated takt time, unstandardize work, and bottleneck process in the activity. Based on the root cause analysis, this thesis recommends the lean manufacturing system to eliminate the root causes. The recommendation includes 5S, outlining, standardize work, and bottleneck analysis. Overall view of the recommendation can be seen on the future state value stream mapping which is followed by making simulation on condition after implementing this recommendation.The recommendation supposed to increased the PCE (Process Cycle Efficiency) value from 4,49% to 43.26% for coil cargo and from 5,17% to 44.43% for general cargo.
