Isi artikelIn the correctional systems of Korea, inmate placement has been primarily based on demographic variables such as gender, age (juvenile vs. adult), and the types of crime committed, with consideration of previous criminal record. Driven in part by advancements in risk assessment and classification in North America, this study explores alternative risk variables that may predict inmate misconduct during imprisonment. Delusional thoughts, assessed via a self-report psychological inventory, and correctional officer evaluations of risk potential were statistically useful indicators of inmate misbehavior. Also, when static risk factors such as criminal history and rule infractions during detention were considered with these two dynamic factors, the effectiveness of a prediction model of inmate misbehavior was significantly improved
