Red fruit (Pandanus conoideus lam ) oil is reported contain -tocoferol and -carotene.The aim of this study was to determine antioxidant capacity of Red Fruit Oil in preventingprotein damage was caused oxidative stress. Wistar male rats weighing 200+/-20 g wererandomly assigned into four experimental groups (n=6 rats in each group). The groups were theaqua (control) , 10l /g BW/day of red fruit oil (RFO), 40g/day of N-(2-Fluoroenyl)acetamide(FA), and 10l /g BW/day of red fruit oil+ 40g/day of N-(2-Fluoroenyl)acetamide (RFO+FA)groups. Their blood and liver tissues were taken at 8th week. Mates’ methods was employed todetermine the parameters of protein oxidative damaged. The statistical was analyzed by Tuckeytest. In the N-(2-Fluoroenyl)acetamide (FA) given group rats, carbonyl in the liverhomogenates on the 8th week was higher significantly (p=0.000) compared than control group. In the RFO given group rats, the levels of carbonyl plasma dan liver tissue were no differencesthan control group (p=0.521, p=0.088). In the RFO+FAgiven group rats, carbonyl levels ofplasma and liver tissue were not significantly lower than AAF grooup (p=1.000, p=0.527). Theresults of this study also showed that in the RFO given group rats, carbonyl levels of plasma wasnot significantly lower than FA grooup (p=0.524). The result of these experiment suggestedthat red fruit oil had no protective effect in the protein oxidative damage and was able to causeoxidative damage to protein. |
