Abstract
The production process at PT. Indah Kiat Pulp & Paper (IKPP), Tbk Tangerang Mill has an identical production process flow from one machine to another. Problems at PT. IKPP Tangerang Mill which engaged in production of cultural paper is the implementation of a scheduling system the current so often lead to overtime and delays in production. The manufacturer is not able to complete the order in accordance with the agreed consent. This is caused by the production process that are running very long and the current scheduling system using FCFS method where the consumer which was first order will be a priority to be served. If this is not addressed, then the losses in terms of both companies, workers, and consumers will be increasingly felt, especially in financial terms. The proposed scheduling system to remedy the problem is by using Discrete Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm (DPSO) to find the best solution. The selected products processing sequence based on scheduling criteria that is minimizing makespan value. To produce a fast and precise scheduling, appropriate design of an application program using Visual Basic 6. The data taken for the case study is a production demands data in the first week of June 2012, which through the DPSO algorithm, makespan impairment is obtained. if the results of calculation of the current scheduling system in comparison to the proposed scheduling system, companies can reduce the cost of expenses. The proposed scheduling system is proved to be better than the system of the company today.
