Isi artikel
This study investigated the extent to which students would take advantage of multiple examination opportunities to improve course performance. Two multiple examinations systems, one in which the best test score and one in which the last test score counted toward the final grade, were contrasted with a conventional system in which students had only a single opportunity to demonstrate unit knowledge. The examination system generated no significant group differences on a cumulative final examination. The examination systems demonstrated some differences on initial unit test performance. It appears multiple examinations result in poorer unit test preparation and this was interpreted as due to maladaptive student study strategies.
