Abstract
Background : Eldery people have a higher risk of contracting various diseases including cardiovascular disease. The risk of cardiovascular disease can be seen from the lipid profile consisting of total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol (low density lipoprotein), HDL cholesterol (high density lipoprotein) and triglycerides. The intake of fat and cholesterol is some factors that affects lipid profile. Therefore, research was conducted to determine how the image of fat and cholesterol intake to lipid profile.
Methods : Analytic studies concerning cross-sectional fat and cholesterol intake conducted in 107 elderly people in the Kalianyar district, West Jakarta using a 24-hour food intake questionnaire. Examination of lipid profile was performed in the laboratory. To calculate the intake of fat and cholesterol are used Nutrisurvey for Windows versions Indonesia
Results : Fat intake sample is an average of 45.22 grams, whereas intake of cholesterol is an average of 104.74 mg per day. Lipid profile elderly in this research is at the average for total cholesterol 214.23 mg / dL, LDL cholesterol 136.52 mg / dL, HDL cholesterol was 52.56 g / dL and triglycerides were 133.57 mg / dL. There was no relationship between the intake of fat and cholesterol on the lipid profile elderly.
Conclusions : Lipid profile values most of the samples for the desired category, except for the value of total and LDL cholesterol are at higher limits. Samples do not get fat and cholesterol intake sufficient to meet the daily requirement
