The data were then analyzed based on Brown and Levinson’s politeness theory. Four strategies were chosen, namely bald on record, positive politeness, negative politeness, and off record. The largest amount among the four politeness strategies was bald on record (78,6%), the second was positive politeness (14,5%), the third was negative politeness (8,6%), and the least was off record (4,8%). There were two factors which influence the characters in choosing their request strategies, namely (1) situational factors which include time and location, (2) the sociological factors which cover power, distance and rank of the imposition.
