Isi artikelLike other languages, Cirebonese changes from time to time. However, what makes it interesting is that Cirebonese is located between two different speech communities, namely Sundanese and Javanese. Therefore, we can not only describing the nature of the changes, but also predicting where the changes are from. This study tries to identify word formation changes in Cirebonese as found in Cirebonese classic texts “Serat Catur Kanda” published in 2003. The analysis reveals 587 Cirebonese words experiencing changes in word formation including The words experiencing changes can be categorized into 11 categories, namely loss of affixes, vowel deletion, consonant omission, sound change in vowel, sound change in consonant, omission of infix, change of particle –ing to e, omission of double nasalization, borrowing, changing from words into phrases, and insertion.
