It is a kind of Everywhere, whose denizens are “neither privileged nor deprived, but…struggling to get by”. Margaret Thatcher seduced these voters (see picture) by rewarding their aspirations to “improve their homes and their lives; to get gradually better cars, washing machines and televisions; to go on holiday in Spain rather than Bournemouth”.
