In this paper, I have argued that recent discussions of the implications of genetic anchament technology for question of equality have overlooked some of the central issues at stake. They have tended to exaggerate the degree to which egalitarians have cause to be concerned with future developments because they have failed to poperly explore what a plausible egalitarian approach to the "currency" of equality might be.
