Abstract
Corrosion is one process that is very disturbing in the industry, particularly the industry's most used metal structure or its components, including the use of long pipes buried in the ground. Cathodic protection is a method commonly used for pipeline corrosion protection by lowering the rate of corrosion. Cathodic protection can be done through two methods that impress current or Sacrificial Anode. Durability against corrosion is strongly influenced by the electrochemical reactions, thermodynamics, metallurgy properties, and the physical and chemical properties. To predict the response of materials to corrosion caused by the environment can be used pourbaix diagram. To determine the corrosion protection using sacrificial anode anode and cathode can choose to use the series electromotive force. In the method of sacrificial anode, the anode and cathode are connected using copper wire. Useful as a medium of copper wire transfer of electrons from the anode to the cathode, or the potential of metal electrodes lendah to metal electrodes potansial higher. Once connected, an anode and a cathode immersed in synthetic sea water that has been created as a means to trigger the motion of electrons. In seawater used, Cl-ions are essential ion that triggers the release of electrons to the steel so corroded. It is expected there will also study the corrosion protection with other methods such as using current methods of coating or installed.
