Abstract
PT. Fajar Surya Wisesa Tbk is one company moving on the manufacture of packaging paper the raw material from waste paper (recycled). The problem faced by the company are frequent damage to the paper machine (PM 2). It caused the maintenance system is not optimal. The maintenance exercised by the company currently more directed to a combination of corrective maintenance that repair a damaged when machine suddenly breakdown and preventive maintenance done to perform the inspection periodically on a machine.Through the collected data and with the tendencies that time to failure each components not having the difference that far and the corresponding relationships between components of the proposition about maintenance system to companies are with preventive maintenance using modularity design.This modularity design will be used to combine several components into a module that new based in time and causation.homogeneity of data TTF (Time to Failure), Standard Deviation, The MTTF (Mean Time to Failure) Values Closest, Using Trial Error is the basic method used in the calculation of time-based modularity design, while for the causes-effect of modularity design used approach FTA (Fault Tree Analysis). Through the calculations that seen in terms of cost resulting for each method, it would be better if applied preventive maintenance system maintenance using modularity design time based on data homogeneity TTF that produces a total cost of maintenance as much as Rp 22.756.989.000.,00
