Isi artikel
Interest in the sexual behavior and reproductive health of adolescents in developing countries has increased since the early 1990s. The earliest studies of sexual behavior frequently examined factors associated with sexual experience, particularly individual-level factors, such as school attendance, educational attainment and knowledge of risk factors.1,2 Later, research evolved to include broader contextual factors seen as influencing the experience and timing of adolescents’ sexual transitions. Connectedness to family, schools, voluntary groups and peer groups, and the social norms governing these groups were also thought to be factors in young people’s risk-taking behavior.
