Abstract
In an effort to manufacture polystyrene foam bricks have been studied experimentally, in order to increase the value of waste polystyrene foam so as to reduce the volume of waste polystyrene foam in the environment. The first stage is the design of polystyrene foam brick molding tool incorporating pressure gauges. Once the design is completed the tool, then proceed with the manufacture of polystyrene foam brick specimens followed by a static test on a specimen brick press polystyrene foam. In the experiments that have been performed, polystyrene foam bricks are grouped according to the composition of the mixture of polystyrene foam bricks and drying time. Quality power brick foam polystyrene refers SNI 03-0348-1989, brick low density, lightweight and porous brick. From the test results press known that a growing number of polystyrene foam bricks on a mixture, it will reduce the strength of polystyrene foam bricks. Polystyrene foam bricks those researched can be classified in the low density concrete blocks. The value of strength produced polystyrene foam brick between 4.67 kg/cm2 - 34.35 kg/cm2, while the minimum standard brick strength density as low as 3.57 kg/cm2. Drying time does not affect on the power brick polystyrene foam which has a number of polystyrene foam as much as 184.5 g in a mixture of brick.
