Abstract
PT. X is a company engaged in the field of plastic and plating. Products produced by PT. X is the electro plating, plastic injection and vacuum. Production scheduling process at PT. X is not scheduled properly. Companies usually adapt the method First Come First Serve for production scheduling. The Company has experienced delays so that the company should pay the penalty cost which is quite large. PT. X needs to make the process production scheduling better to avoid delays and reduce the risk of penalty cost. The recommendation of scheduling system to fix existing problems is by using a modified genetic algorithm in which crossover section make use of the Taguchi method. Sequence generated by the production of scheduling criteria used is minimizing mean flow time and minimizing mean tardiness. Due to the considerable time required to produce a proposed scheduling of production if done manually, so in this study using an application program to assist in the process of production scheduling. The data used in this study is the data request in June 2011 for the eight types of products. After the scheduling process using a genetic algorithm method, the obtained results that the mean flow generated by scheduling time with genethic algorithm method produces a mean flow time is better than the company's production schedule for today. Where there is a decrease of 45.96%.
