Abstract
One of the way that can be used to increase business performance was by managing human resources in the company. Company need human resources that have competence, so they can be succeed doing their job. The approach in managing human resources in the company was by using Competency Based-Human Resource Management (CBHRM). PT. Y is a manufacturing company. Some issues in company’s human resource management are, company doesn’t have threshold competencies in recruiting new employee and there is no differentiating competencies between superior performers and average performers.To overcome the issues, the company should use Competency Based-Human Resource Management (CBHRM) in managing human resource. CBHRM widely applied in Indonesia has four main components, namely competency dictionary, competency profiles, employee competencies dan CBHRM applications. This research is focussed in CBHRM design process, factors that affect CBHRM design process and the most suitable CBHRM applications for the company. Factors that affect CBHRM design process are company’s vision, mission, job description, managerial level in the company, and employees competencies gap. The most suitable CBHRM applications for the company are performance management and training and development.
