Isi artikelThe study applies a Javanese cultural perspective as a representation of Indonesian culture because of several factors. The absence of a solid Indonesian culture makes Javanese culture suitable as a "substitute" because of its broad coverage of influences in the nation. Its influence is noticeable in the Indonesian working context as well, especially in the public sector (Brandt, 1997). Moreover, while similar patterns of thought and behavior of Javanese culture are also available in other cultures (see Harahap & Siahaan, 1987; Tjitra, 2001; Koentjaraningrat, 1993), it is the most explored and studied culture of Indonesia.
