Charis Katakis, PhD, is the director of the Laboratory for the Study of Human Relations in Athens, Greece, which she founded in 1983. The Laboratory is systemically oriented in its approach to therapy, training, and research. She is the author of five books; her first one, The Three Identities of the Greek Family, was first published in 1984 and is currently in its ninth edition. Her theoretical and research work in systems has been presented in numerous publications and presentations around the world. Dr. Katakis has also played an active role in many systemic organizations and associations. She was the first president of the Hellenic Association for Systemic Therapy, a member of the European Family Therapy Association Chamber of National Family Therapy Associations, a board member of the International Family Therapy Association, and served as president of the 8th World International Family Therapy Association Congress in Greece. In addition, she is an AAMFT approved supervisor at the founder’s level.
