Abstract
To make loading and unloading ofcontainers requiredspecial infrastructure at ports. Specific port infrastructure activities of loading and unloading of containers called container terminal. Processes operating within this container terminal stevedoring
equipment that serves i~ounload and load such as: Container Crane, Rubber Tyred Gantry (RTG), and Head Truck. Each tool has a function of loading and unloading respectively. Container Crane serves to move containers from the trucks onto the field buildup and vice versa. Rubber Tyred Gantry (RTG) is usefid for lowering or raising container from / to the trailer. Truck Headserves to transport containerfrom the wharfto the field buiodup and
Vice versa. PT. Multi Terminal Indonesia (PTandfurther shortened. MTI) is one company that is
engaged in ocean transportation services. PT. MTI has several types of terminals, namely: Multi Purpose Terminal, Container Terminal and Terminal Logistics. But, the issues to be raised in this study are located in Container Terminal. PT. MTI has several problems in its operations, namely the speed of loading and unloading of containers (Box Crane Hour) which will affect the overall length of time the
process ofloading and unloading (Hook Cycle Time). As a result, the higher the costs and vice versa. There are also problems in scheduling the ship to be docked with a ship that over time, and problems related to the optimization of field stacking crates.
If Hook Cycle Time.of a loading and unloading process is too long, this can disrupt the entire process of loading and unloading schedules and other ships that have been scheduled. So the speed of loading and unloading can be viewed based on the speed ofHook Cycle / Cycle Ganco, while Hook Cycle Time is the time required in the process of moving
goods from the hatch to the dock in one cycle. One cycle is starting a hook from hooking ganco kernuatan in the hold and then ship the goods 1~flkedermaga, then ganco released, and so on ganco back into the hatch. The faster the work per Hook Cycle Time, the more loading and unloading activities are generated and this can be measured by a certain period of time (hours, days, months, years).
To solve the above problems, the company will pursuepolicies to vary the material handling to get the cycle time ofthe lowest / most optimai also to know each utility used material handling.
