Abstract
As more and more schools nowadays adopt international curricula and more and more parents appreciate international education, schools need to keep abreast of international developments. Information regarding the world’s progress can be achieved by understanding English, a language used internationally. It is desirable that all the members of a school can communicate in English. However, not all Indonesian school personnel are able to speak English. A way of encouraging them to speak English is by giving them a model, who can motivate them to learn to speak the language. The best model in a team is usually their leader; therefore, the best model at school logically would be the principal. However, teaching English to principals is not a simple task since language skills require a lot of time to practice while, on the other hand, a principal has an abundance of tasks to accomplish every day. In order to help solve this problem, a special syllabus is needed to teach the principals English. To make it effective, the syllabus must be designed based on the needs analysis of the intended learners. All the information about the competence, target, and surroundings must be investigated in the needs analysis beforehand. When all the findings have been analyzed, the syllabus is then designed based on the particular needs of the learners.
